America, a Constitutional Republic…

…not a Democracy.

America, pursuant to national Constitution Article IV, Section 4, is a Constitutional Republic.

The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence. (National Constitution Article IV, Section 4, emphasis added in italics.)

But what does that mean? As a Constitutional Republic, America guarantees all American Citizens a Republican Form of Government; meaning that this country is governed by a written rule of law, the Constitution. In a Constitutional Republic, the inherent rights of the American people and all due process provisions outlined in the Bill of Rights are guaranteed to the People by law. Pursuant to national Constitution Article VI, Clause 2, the written, supreme rule of law in America is the National Constitution which supersedes and is superior to any and all other lesser law, including federal and state statutes, codes, regulations, rules, and policies as well as the whim and pleasure of elected or appointed government officials.

America is not a “democracy”. Our Founding Fathers clearly understood the difference between a “republic” and a “democracy”. Unlike a republic, governed by a written rule of law operated by men and women acting as government officials, a democracy is a system governed by the whim and manipulation of government leaders unbridled by written law. In a democracy, pubic opinion is easily manipulated and appeased by government lip-service, misguided benefits, lies, propaganda, and even guilt. When “public opinion” is subjected to the ever shifting opinion, manipulation, or alteration of self-interested parties void of a foundation in real law, the society all too often devolves into mob rule and tyranny.

The distinction between republic and democracy is crucial when it comes to the protection of the people’s secured rights. The American People need to understand that their rights are not a subject of “democratic” debate or opinion. Their rights are written in the stone of American Law not to be infringed upon even in the smallest way.

Division is everywhere these days, at home and abroad. Americans need to realize that the Law in America doesn’t divide us, it unites us. The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution profoundly acknowledges the dignity of every human being and our rights endowed by God. Our Law declares that we all have a right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, not just as Americans, but as human beings created by God – that’s real freedom. No one can violate your God-given rights, not the government, not your work, not your neighbor, nobody.

Most Americans, on both sides of the aisle today, can agree that as country we are far off course. The reason we are where we are fundamentally comes down to the fact that the Law of God and the Law in America have been abandoned by men and women individually as well as by the nation collectively. Americans need to decide what kind of country they want to live in. We are all different but the Constitution, the written rule of law, is our document, it defends each of us and our differences against any encroachment upon our rights and freedoms.
